Album "Ainigma"

Ilias Zoutsos presents his discographic work “Ainigma” (Enigma) in which he creates, performs, and innovates once again.
 
Regarding the musical imprint, it is about folk -non-academic, that is- music with the use of traditional instruments such as the Cretan lyra and the lute, which however inherently incorporates modern musical trends and currents (such as alternative, rock, electronic, and experimental elements), while the process of creation, shaping, and imprinting of it is done with a scholar approach, with the parallel use of instruments such as the classical violin and the double bass. Following in the same spirit, the lyrics in the songs inter-complement with the sounds, and balance combining the pulse of today with folk lyric-writing and poetry.
However, apart from all that was mentioned, what is distinctive about this material and Ilias Zoutsos -which is also a characteristic feature of him as a creator- is that he manages to compose all the above, generating new art that doesn’t at all simply occur from a mere “marrying up” of individual elements, but on the contrary constitutes his own unique and distinct artistic world.
Finally, to the question in which genre of music he creates, his answer ends up in a personal genre that summarizes also all the above: Contemporary scholar folk music.
 
In this album, he himself writes music, lyrics, and poetry and performs on the lyra, the voice, the violin, the guitar, and the lute. Lyrically participate Chara Garefalaki and Christos Kontogiorgos, while the orchestrations involve: Giorgos Bouldis (bass (double, electric, and synth)), Panos (Tsiko) Katsikiotis (electronic drums, percussion) and Yiannis Paxevanis (ac. and el. guitar (supplementary)), who also undertook the curation of the production together with Ilias Zoutsos. The drawings are made by the painter-sculptor George Hatzakis.
